Seeking Legal Advice for Ongoing Insurance Claim Nightmare After Hurricane Beryl

Seeking Legal Advice for Ongoing Insurance Claim Nightmare After Hurricane Beryl Apologize for the long post, also I rather not mention the insurance company name so let just call them "Gabe". Hi, Reddit. My family and I live in Pearland, Texas, and our home suffered severe damage during Hurricane Beryl this past summer. Our house backs onto an open field, and the winds tore off all the shingles, exposing the roof. Water poured in, causing ceilings to collapse in three rooms, including the master restroom. My dad and I stayed behind to salvage what we could while protecting the property, and within 24 hours, we installed a temporary roof cover. Reputable contractors and assessments estimated the damage at $55K-$70K, excluding roof replacement costs. However, despite providing invoices, photos, videos, and documentation over six months, Gabe has only paid $12K on what should be a six-figure claim. Meanwhile, we’ve already paid $60K out-of-pocket, and they've denied or undercut almost every invoice, even those from credible sources. Adding insult to injury, the temporary accommodations Gabe provided were in an unsafe area. Within a day, my parents (both in their 50s) became ill due to the poor living conditions. After pushing back, we were moved elsewhere, but the stress and hardship this caused were immense. To make matters worse, their adjusters refuse to approve essential exploratory work. For example, water damage caused ceilings to collapse, yet they claim the walls—clearly waterlogged—don’t need replacement, despite the risk of mold. Safety hazards like a faulty breaker unit and inoperable fire alarms remain unaddressed, leaving my family in a potentially life-threatening environment. This is my father's first home insurance claim after years of being a loyal Gabes customer. Despite his tireless efforts, he’s been met with neglect and dismissiveness. I’ve now stepped in to help, as this ongoing battle is taking a toll on his health and our family’s well-being. I recently emailed Gabe to demand immediate action and made it clear we’re considering legal options. However, I need advice on how to navigate this further. Has anyone faced a similar situation? How did you handle the insurer's underpayment and delays? Are there specific legal resources or organizations in Texas that can help us fight this? Any advice or support is greatly appreciated. Thank you for reading.
