I get it OP. It was presented sorta like a big fun, free celebration is coming to SF! In the spirit of the good ‘ol Grateful Dead!
But the reality is they’re selling enough tickets to generate tens of millions of dollars. Probably a ~$1M in fees alone that will be cut up between Another Planet, Ticketmaster and LiveNation. Then the bars at the polo fields will be selling $12 watered down beers and $18 (measured shot) cocktails and that will generate a shit ton of revenue for the promoter (which is fine). It’s the Grateful fuck’n Dead man! But the spirit of the whole thing is sorta crushed and lost in capitalism of it all. Will I go? Yes. Will it be fun? Yes. Will the world continue to get shittier for artists and fan experience in the 60 years? Most def. Will people still be listening to the Grateful Dead? I think so.
