This morning at 5am I got a call from the assisted living place that she had fallen so they had called 911. About 30 mins later, they called again and it was the Sac county EMS guy who was there on the scene, saying she's fine, and they moved her into a chair, and she didn't need any further medical attention. So medical transport wasn't indicated. Had I requested she be transported to ER (which would be against the advice of EMS who thought she didn't need it), I thought I would be gambling that I'd also be on the hook for more charges than just the first responder fee.
When Kaiser opens this morning I'll call and inquire about this from their end. I asked the EMS guy but he said, predictably, that he didn't deal with the billing stuff.
