Oh man. Thank you messaging me. I wrote this awhile ago. I can only imagine what’s gonna happen next. Google “how is the California fair plan funded?”. You’ll find your answer. I heard it first from my insurance broker who is a straightforward guy. Talk to your insurance company. Talk to someone who’s honest. Careful to not to talk to someone who is a company man, they’ll just lie and tell you everything is ok. CFP is funded by insurance companies, which many have left or are trying to leave. But CFP is still opening new policies. How can you open new policies without bringing in income? Will there be enough money to pay out claims? I personally tried calling a rep. At the CFP. Good luck! It was hard to get a rep. Back then, it’s probably worse now. Don’t talk my word for it. Go ahead and make those calls. I’m sure what’s gonna happen is that everyone’s insurance is gonna skyrocket and the state of California is gonna ask for more taxes. We the people are gonna get screwed again. Pay more but get crappier quality and/or no progress. If you need to file a claim for anything regarding your home, don’t do it! Once you file a claim you’ll get a point on your CLUE report. Your insurance company will drop you. That’s nuts! You’re paying for insurance that you can’t use without the fear of losing your coverage? What a f##kin scam. I personally got off the CFP but it took months to find a new policy. Even my new insurance company is sending me letters in the mail. I’m sure they’ll drop me soon. And if you don’t know, you need to have insurance if you still have a mortgage with the lender. If you can’t find insurance, the lender can force a policy on you which can be thousands of dollars more. If you can’t pay the new policy (plus the mortgage) the lender can put a lien on your property. Something has to change. I fear many people are gonna lose their homes and rents will skyrocket for tenants. I still live in California, my beautiful home and birthplace. Now I’m thinking of leaving. Not worth the cost and don’t wanna still around for what will soon be coming.
