Creating a Sprinkler System for the forests in CA??? I'm being stupid here but please humor me. What if we create a sprinkler system for the forest? We have wind turbine towers that are hundreds of feet tall (the tallest in the world is 800 ft). They can definitely go above the forest. The taller they are the safer they are for birds. So we know these structures exist, how much they cost and how to build them. So what if these towers can act as the pipes to bring the water up to the top and pressurize it like crazy, like 40,000 psi. This creates redundancy too. One tower goes down won't take the rest of the system down. From there the pressurized water go into the hoses between towers and we could have hundreds of sprinkler heads between towers. With 400,000 psi, the water could be sprayed pretty far. With hoses that can handle 400,000 psi, they won't break because of high wind or something like that. On a normal day they can just generate mist to absorb heat, prevent the forest from getting too dry and save water. The system could definitely determine the dryness level of the forest and spray accordingly. Of course, it would spray full force if there is an actual fire. Think of a pentagram and a center tower. With just six towers, you could cover a huge area, and every time you add a tower, you can crisscross it so much more. So the cost will be the towers and miles and miles of sprinkler hoses and heads. We know we can afford this since we have thousands of wind turbine towers already. Right now I'm sure the damage costs a lot more every year and even the water we use to put the fire out is more than if we use this sprinkler system. So what do you think? Can we do it? There are so many brilliant minds in CA and so many billionaires. I'm sure they can turn wind turbine towers into water-pressurized machines. I'm sure insurance companies would want to do this too.
