[PSA] There is an entire lot of Hyundai vehicles with open commercial claims & losses on them that are being sold as brand new.

[PSA] There is an entire lot of Hyundai vehicles with open commercial claims & losses on them that are being sold as brand new. Long post; but story involves consumer fraud and may apply to those buying a brand new Hyundai vehicle in 2025. If any of ya'll are skeptical, feel free to parse my comment history. I've posted about certain things I bring up here before like my rear end accident. Earlier in the year, I purchased a brand new electric vehicle from a Hyundai dealership. The process required going through a dealership trade where the car was transferred/bought from another dealership (Garden Grove Dealership) as I wanted a specific color that the other dealership had in stock. All good I thought. Until 1-2 months into ownership I was rear ended by somebody. I submitted a claim to the insurance company of the guy that hit me which they accepted full responsibility and covered the repairs in full. I then submitted a depreciated value claim as there were sub-frames that needed to be replaced and it was a car that was off the lot for less than 2 months (**less than 1000 miles**) It was through the depreciated value claim that I learnt of an open commercial claim and loss reported by Garden Grove Hyundai on my car's VIN. Insurance company pointed to the existence of the open commercial claim and loss as a reason to deny me of the depreciated value claim. Because it is a commercial level claim, I as a consumer cannot easily gain access to the status or details of said claim. Only method is to prod the insurance company to give me any detail that they can about the claim. From insurance company I learnt of the commercial insurer that the claim was made with; Motors Insurance Company. Claim is related to ash/shoot damage caused by the wildfires earlier in the year. That Garden Grove Hyundai made the claim and the claim number it was associated with. So I try to contact whoever Motors Insurance Company is, but the only number I can find is off CA's Department of Insurance website. I call the number and the person I talk to tells me that they cannot find such a claim in their system. I'm more inclined to think that I just called the wrong number so I haven't investigated much further into this. **I contacted both the dealership I bought from and Garden Grove Hyundai, where GG Hyundai states in a letter that 'the vehicles stored at the dealership did sustain significant smoke, soot, and ash damage'. Confirming that the open commercial claim and loss reported were real and legitimate.** Dealership I bought from stated that the vehicle was 'inspected and received ... in good condition'. Now both dealerships are claiming that the cars are mechanically and functionally OK and are avoiding trying to work with me without pursuing further legal action. It sucks as it now puts the vehicle in a grey-zone to insurers that are willing to take advantage of such a situation. I notified insurers what GG Hyundai stated and how both dealerships are treating the vehicle, to which they still deny my claim. I am making this point just to notify the OC community as a whole of how they can out of nowhere end up with a brand new vehicle with an open commercial claim and loss reported on it. And one example as to how it may affect your insurance claims in the future. I am doing so after trying as much as I can to work with them privately to resolve the situation. Now I'm just plain tired cause nobody wants to take responsibility for this mess up other than to have me ignore the existence of said claim or put myself into financial debt to pursue legal action (the estimates just for filing are worrisome). Edit: If any mod wants to dm me to ask for proof. Go ahead :)
