There are great states to live in with no taxes. I wouldn’t listen to the advice saying to rent an apartment and not live there. In these state income tax exams, they will ask you to prove that you don’t live in their state. They can ask where your kids go to school, where you are registered to vote, and if your credit card statement shows you getting groceries, gas, meals, etc at locations in the state where you claim you aren’t a resident, you will be toast. I am a CPA.
