E-bike damage covered under uninsured motorist?? Help! I was struck by an e-bike rider who ran a red light and was traveling in the wrong lane. They left the scene and had to be chased down by the police. I have a copy of the police report. I have spoken to five different Progressive employees who cannot definitively tell me if my uninsured motorist coverage will cover the damage. In California e-bike cyclists are not required to carry insurance. I do not want to make a claim if there is a possibility it will be denied because I don't want my premiums to increase. Is this damage covered? Should I forget insurance and take the person to small claims court instead?
