Fair MVA settlement?
Fair MVA settlement?
My Mom was in a MVA almost 2 years ago and was injured as a result. It was a significant impact and her Honda CRV wasn't safe to drive. She went to urgent care, followed up with primary care doc and went to PT and massage for about 5 months. My Mom was 80 at the time, thinks she's invincible and was stressed out if her medical bills would be covered. She was also in the middle of moving to retirement community after selling the house she'd had for 40 years. So basically, the timing was awful. I think my Mom deserves to be compensated for her injury, but I have no idea what's a reasonable settlement amount these days. She's not dramatic, didn't call an ambulance or go to ER and her treatment was very conservative because again, she thinks she's invincible. My question is what is what does a fair settlement look like these days? We didn't want to make a fuss about it, demand a huge amount of money, or get an attorney. The adjuster has offered 2k and I don't think that's fair. Does anyone else have any opinions? Again, we're not trying to be unreasonable, but she was injured, she is was 80, she was moving and it was very stressful not to mention painful. Any constructive honest feedback is welcomed. Thank you.
Edit: Will it hurt or help my cause to mention I was a previous claims adjuster? (I haven't been since 2009, hence the reason I'm asking for feedback on what a realistic settlement offer might look like these days)
