Roof materials usually come with different ratings...wind, algae growth etc. Most come with a 25yr warranty and I would be furious if the half way mark was when our insurer wanted them replaced.
I think if it was me I would dig into the city/county building dept records and look for a permit from 10yrs ago when they were installed. Rare for roof installs to be done without a permit in CA AFAIK.
Then chase the installer or mfg for material and warranty/lifespan info. Often its transferable to new owners with a fee. Might not help in the end but it should be something you can do without much cost to substantiate your roof is still within good lifespan.
Consumer Reports suggests 22-40% premium increase for roofs over 20yrs old. 10yrs I guess you could extrapolate at 11-20% increase but its just a guess.
