While I'm definitely an advocate for protecting communities as a whole, the main argument in that article seems to be that the water usage would impact water pressure/access for firefighters. True, but if someone wants to protect their home, it's my understanding that sprinklers will help (in addition to many other measures mentioned here & in that article)
