Why home buyers are finding it nearly impossible to get insurance in California, and it’s only getting worse.
Why home buyers are finding it nearly impossible to get insurance in California, and it’s only getting worse.
There have been recent posts about home buyers in California not being about to get insurance for their home. Here’s why. As you know California in the past 10 years has seen massive wildfires, record setting rain and snow fall. In the Lake Tahoe area 65 feet of snow fell this year. This we say massive flooding and now at any moment the wild fires will be blazing. Even with all of these disasters the insurance companies were still willing to write new policies. So what happed? Our Governor stepped in and told/forced the insurance companies to write policies at prices set by the Governor. Insurance companies responded saying if wrote policies for that amount of money we would not be profitable. Governor plated hardball saying take it or leave. Insurance companies said okay, if you are not willing to negotiate ciate were are leaving. This is my understanding of what’s going on. Feel free to correct me.
