Review of 1 year of contracts for SRCS.
Review of 1 year of contracts for SRCS.
I went through 1 years data 2024 of SRCS contract approvals and I made some line cuts. You may or may not agree with what is essential for a school district. But with my "imaginary" cuts the savings were ~2.5 million dollars and no district staff was laid off.
Some budget highlights.
The French Charter school paid 20,000 dollars for a juggling and magic instructor.
MHS spent 5,000 dollars on piano accompaniments.
The budget is littered with nonsense training and consultations that are not required to run a school district.
Paying 67,000 dollars for a software cyber high to determine metrics....
District paid Renaissance 77,160 dollars for "DnA platform for administering assessments and providing teachers with learning data analytics."
I do not understand at this era the school district is paying a subscription to a textbook service. A school district can easily find a better solution then paying 70,395 dollars for McGraw Hill K-5 Math program online resources.
Does the school district lack in house lawyers?
"business and legal counsel" from Fagen, Friedman & Fulfrost (F3) for 890,000 dollars.
King Consulting 102,500 dollars to "help SRCS identify and apply for modernization funding"
Going to be real there is no value in a 10,000 dollar Pyramid Educational Consultants two day training for teachers.
Lawrence Hall of Science charges 810 dollar for a 50 minute lesson.
I love the idea of supporting music but paying 58,000 dollars for Mariachi Camp for 300 K-12th graders. Another program Play Marimba 42,200 dollars "Provides [rental] 52 marimba instruments and lessons" Ethnic studies is important but paying 127,500 dollars for a Ethnic Studies PD is absurd. Spend that money on a reading teacher.
Here is the raw data. I cherry picked contracts to "cut" but to give you an idea of potential savings.
I removed all last names.
