Some people like working because of the structured routine and social elements. Most people are off during periods of time when other people are also off. For example, all throughout school, you and your peers have the same vacations. And if you're working, you might take a planned week off and spend time with family, etc. But if you're taking off a random 2+ weeks during a time when no one else is, it can be quite boring if you don't plan activities properly. Everyone else who you might normally spend time with while on vacation (SO, family, friends, etc.) will probably be working. That being said, whenever I have an extended period of time off between jobs or otherwise, I make sure to plan activities each day to keep me occupied. It gives me things to look forward to. I also try to structure social outings as possible to keep from getting bored.
