I have a Kaiser platinum plan. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I also can't find any document on their site that actually tells me the extent to which therapy would be covered. I will say that I have heard similar things from other people, so I wouldn't be surprised if that's true. I've also heard therapists don't tend to stay with Kaiser because they don't pay them worth a shit. What I *will* say for them is that getting in to see a psychiatrist was a breeze. Referral, boom, appointment in a matter of a few days. Same thing for other specialists, for that matter. OTOH, for a while, my psychiatrist was making noises about maybe possibly drug testing me because I admitted I like to partake in a THC edible once in a while. That never happened, but it's kind of a ridiculous practice in a state where recreational use is legal.
