Driver hit multiple cars in neighborhood, is each vehicle a separate claim or not, insurance bundled all into one claim.

Driver hit multiple cars in neighborhood, is each vehicle a separate claim or not, insurance bundled all into one claim. So my 2007 prius was totaled by a driver who was having a mental episode, he hit several parked vehicles as he was driving through the neighborhood and now his insurance says they have a limits issue because the value of all 3 cars exceeds that which is covered by the policy. Im in california to clarify. My AAA agent stated that each vehicle would be a separate incident and should be a separate claim apart from the other vehicles so I just want to hear what other opinions are from some agents if possible. Who is correct?
