Following up to recommend you ask for any hardship assistance programs - after the birth of our second daughter we asked and were given a substantial reduction and very reasonable payment plan. The catch is you have to ask...the hospital won’t tell you about those options. Also a great tip is asking if there is a discount for paying off the account in cash/in full - I have read of up to a 50% reduction in final bill if you pay cash. Good luck!
