I just learned a day ago that my rental house burned down (see photos)

tips
for when calling the insurance company from

( I have dealt with an auto insurance claim and it was a real struggle)
Thanks
Brandon, sorry to hear.
Given it is a total loss, and depending on how your policy is written, you can rebuild or ask for a payout.
When rebuilding, you will get the loss of rents coverage.
When asking for a payout, the loss of rents will only apply until you receive the payout for the total loss. Example, if it takes them 45 days to cut you a check to for the total loss, you should be receiving 45 days of loss of rents.
*One thing to consider, the insurance companies and restoration contractors are going to be responding to so many claims. This will drive up cost and over load everyone. Be aware that if you choose to rebuild, it will take much longer than it would normally take.
Good luck with it.
