House fire, home insurance question

House fire, home insurance question Hi guys, 8 months ago i came back home to my fire alarm going off in my bedroom. I opened the door and the room was full of smoke. Turns out my outlet caught fire and burned part of the wall etc. i had just gone out of town 2 days before and have the habit of unplugging everything (my moms ex was an electrician and he always had us do this). Another outlet on the opposite wall was also brown. The electrician that came by and even the fire fighters said that it was strange that the outlet caught fire without anything being plugged in. Long story short I have been dealing with a lot of ptsd, i constantly get phantom smells & i panic with any beeping sound thinking it might be the fire alarm. All the electricians just seem to want to replace the outlets but i feel like its a bigger deal since nothing was plugged in and its opposite walls. Due to this i have avoided getting the electricity back on in the I filed the claim but never cashed the check. My therapist says to move forward i need to get it fixed but i don’t think they gave me enough money. Has anyone dealt with a similar experience? Did i wait too long or can i still submit for more money? I live in California and i have pacific specialty.
