Can we use insurance money to pay mortgage if house is lost in a wildfire?

Can we use insurance money to pay mortgage if house is lost in a wildfire? House was lost in wildfire and is filed as a total loss with insurance. Can I use that money to pay off the mortgage, or do I need to use it to rebuild? Do I even have to continue paying the mortgage in this case? UPDATE: Thank you for all the responses and avenues for additional research. In speaking with someone from the mortgage company, they are saying I have the option to pay off the mortgage, or rebuild. If rebuilding, they will hold the funds in an escrow and release according to a schedule based on rebuild progress. If paying off the mortgage, there is an affidavit indicating that funds are to go towards that, and any remaining funds comes to me. I'm sure there is a ton of fine print, but there is not documentation to review, this is all based on what the agent told me verbally over the phone. I will heed warnings regarding paying off and no longer being eligible for other assistance.
