It’s called eminent domain. I deal with this on a regular basis. Normally, it’s just the government taking a small piece of the land and not the whole thing. Nonetheless, you would be compensated. There is generally litigation involving the value and whether or not the taking is “needed”. Personally, I would pass on it. If they ever decide to move forward, it will be a nightmare.
