This was going to happen regardless of healthcare changes in the OBBB. Fires are more expensive and more damaging and most costs are form asset damage, not healthcare payout. most private insurance companies left California so the state has to pick up the tab alone. When the only customers paying into the state fire insurance pool are the same people who need to take it out, there’s less low-risk payees who generate net positive revenue into the fund.
