Did people already forget about the Airport fire from this past September? How it was started by Public Works using heavy machinery that creates sparks, during a record heat wave? Because Public Works wanted block access to paths/roads from public use cause they thought a motorcyclist would start a fire in the canyon, but ironically Public Works started a fire instead… Also, there’s a fire station located 1.5 miles away from where the fire started. That fire destroyed 120 homes in Riverside and Orange County. Burned 23k acres. So to speak frankly, no, we’re not ready for a wildfire. **Edit** To add to this further. We were lucky that the winds were blowing mostly East for the duration of this fire. If the winds started to blow west at any point the following cities could have easily been destroyed: Trabuco Canyon, Robinson Ranch, Dove Canyon, Coto de Caza, Rancho Santa Margarita, and Foothill Ranch. Parts of Irvine, Lake Forest and Mission Viejo likely also would’ve been hit as well. The Eastbound wind bailed us out here in Orange County, and screwed over Lake Elsinore and Temescal Valley in Riverside. The fire wasn’t contained for weeks.
