While I do think rural customers should pay more for utilities (especially people living in the mountains and foothills), we arent absolved of the fires by living in cities. Several of the fires have been caused by failures in the long distance transmission lines that deliver power to the Bay Area. The Napa fires were caused by a failure in the line near the Geysers geothermal plant, as an example. It's not possible to generate sufficient power locally. There's not enough space, and it would be extremely detrimental to our air quality.
