I hate to say it but no, it may never come out in your favor. Let's say in 10 years salaries finally catch up and prices start to appreciate above what you paid.
That's cool but you lost $2000 every single month over 5-10 years vs renting. Or 120k-240k, plus all the ROI you would have gotten if that money were in stocks.
It could end up being that the version of yourself that rented is ahead by a million dollars at the 10 year mark.
