Here's something that could sound harsh back:
Security is an illusion, especially living in a country where 49 out of 50 states are at-will employment, there's no universal healthcare or other social safety nets.
I refuse to miss out on life to fund something that I may not ever get to because I die in my sleep tonight. Or I get taken out by a bus while crossing the street. Or any number of things that would prevent me from getting my retirement funds at all. We already live in a hellscape and staying at home because I didn't make out my 401k or IRA in a particular year sounds boring as hell. I'd rather struggle. My struggles have made me who I am today and given me so much gumption and drive to fucking SURVIVE that I am not afraid of the future and what it holds. Maybe i'll be arguing with clients on my death bed to not make the logo bigger, who knows. I wouldn't mind being in my career until the day I die. Which, remember, could be tomorrow, could be next week, could be in 30 years, or 50 years. No one knows. You do you, boo, but your life sounds boring as all get-out.
