I swear I could have written this myself- I am also a 3rd generation agent in a currently very dysfunctional/toxic office. I think you are doing the right thing by trying to leave. I've been in this position for 7 years and while we are pretty successful and have been in business for 50+ years, my 3 other family members have yet to master separating work and home. I have been confronted in my office about personal matters, called after hours and berated over work, etc all while feeling essentially powerless to change any of it and basically getting the vibe that the 2nd generation is eventually going to pull the ladder up behind them by selling the agency when they decide they want out At the end of the day, with the kind of experience you have, you can find somewhere that you are appreciated and don't have to worry about work and family mixing in ways that will completely ruin your relationship with your family. Even if you don't end up buying an agency I would really encourage you to look for avenues out of that mess
