Many companies have pulled out of the California market for auto and homeowners coverage. There are very few companies that will accept new clients. If you are lucky enough to get a quote almost all companies want payment on full or a huge deposit. The insurance for houses is worse. With all the CA fires the past 10 years the areas have been rezoned and almost everyone is having to go with California Fair Plan. It takes weeks to get a quote and it is only coverage for fire. It is not a good time to shop for insurance if you already have coverage in place. Most important do not be late with your payments, you will be dropped and getting new coverage will be difficult.
