It’s still a new vehicle. Cars are damaged and repaired all the time before being sent to dealers. Most of the time it’s minor things, but are repaired with new OEM parts and sent on their way. Anything that surpasses the manufacturer’s threshold for repairs gets sent to auction, offered as fleet cars or totaled out. For the soot, smoke and ash damage, they most Iikely buffed or repainted the affected parts either at the VPC or dealership and put back on the lot. Either way it all gets claimed to commercial insurance, but I assume most people don’t find out until something like this happens.
