Fire insurance for new home owners in Southern California

Fire insurance for new home owners in Southern California We were lucky and just opened escrow on a new home in Southern California. My wife and have never owned a home before and we're looking for fire insurance. It is surprisingly difficult to find and we cant close escrow without it. We live in the suburbs but the rear of our home is adjacent to an undeveloped hillside. Our house is in a well-known suburb five miles or so from the foot of the san gabriel mountains, in the middle of a housing development. We still cant find fire insurance though the risk seems fairly minimal to me (the hill in the back is fairly well maintained and not covered with heavy amounts of dry brush). Any thoughts on how we can get this done?
