So sad. Despite being right up against the hill, we miraculously only had one house lost on our street. We were fortunate to have several retired firefighters that lived nearby who bravely stayed behind and put out embers on a lot of the houses. If it weren’t for them, I’m pretty sure half of the homes on that street (including ours, as the one house that burned down was right across from us) would have been toast. But agreed, I have no idea why they haven’t in the 40+ years that area has been developed. I know it backs a state park and maybe there are regulations around that, but it just seems bonkers to me that they never built a connecting road to Bryant Ranch and Chino Hills areas.
