I have cal fair plan. No one will insure my house because wildfire risk. It’s called the “insurance of last resorts” and it’s extremely expensive and only covers fire damage. For my 2000sqft house I pay $7000 a year just for cal fair fire insurance and another $1200 for a “wrap around policy” covered by your average insurer, frequently it’s State Farm. They cover everything cal fair does not cover ie: water damage, theft, wind and hail damage. You need to work with your insurance broker to see if he can find maybe someone who can cover you fully without needing cal fair, otherwise you’ll have to pay for cal fair + wrap around insurance and it’s very expensive.
