Need Advice: Contractor Recommended by Insurance Caused Total Home Loss — Appears Unlicensed (California)

Need Advice: Contractor Recommended by Insurance Caused Total Home Loss — Appears Unlicensed (California) Looking for guidance on what steps to take next. Our insurance company referred a contractor to us through their preferred vendor program. During the course of their work, they caused extensive damage to our home…so severe that it’s now considered a total home loss. My family has had to move out for the foreseeable future. We’ve been trying to verify this contractor’s credentials, and so far, we cannot find any evidence that they hold a valid contractor’s license in the state of California, where the property is located. I’m planning to contact the California State License Board, but for anyone who’s dealt with something similar or knows the process… what else would you do? Legal steps? Insurance escalation? Anything to watch out for? Any advice or next steps would be greatly appreciated.
