Live in an area prone to disasters and usually when something like this happens there's a stack of pre-printed checks from all the insured addresses in the affected area. They're often waiting for you to call to tell them where to send it. Usually there's an initial amount and then a follow-up or just straight up policy limits if they expect it to go over. Keep an eye out for FEMA claims that may be available too if your losses exceed policy limits. They'll provide folks to help walk you through the process. They may pay your claim in exchange for the right to sue PGE on your behalf, always a good idea to have a lawyer look things over before you sign anything when you're dealing with a claim this large and complex. Also you might consider consulting a private claims adjuster (I think that's what they're called) because there are ways to make a home loss claim that can get you fair value and ways to make it that will get you the minimum value to buy a generic replacement of the thing you're claiming.
