I dont see how this crisis is "hidden". The effects of climate change have been discussed and reported on widely for the last decade (or more). Ironically it seems that the areas most at risk continue to draw inbound migration and thus increased property values (like florida, California and the southwest)
I've never quite understood it frankly. As someone who lives in a "shithole mid west city" with very affordable housing, a stable job market and no real climate risks I've often wondered why so many people ignore these practical issues when selecting where to live.
