For groundwater that is fed by surface water, distance from the surface water absolutely matters. In our case, it won’t be the “coastline,” it’ll be the Delta. And the further you are from that Delta surface water, the lower the groundwater will be. It is hard to take the OP seriously when they show no knowledge of basic groundwater hydrology.
