Yes, sorry I elaborated in a different reply before I saw this.
He’s saying the excavation made his wall tilt and that is somehow pulling his house over. Though the wall and house are visually “connected” via a concrete driveway, his own structural engineer stated he is 99% sure the house cannot be pulled over by a tilting wall that is over 10 ft away from it. The neighbor says he cannot accept a 1% chance it is. As for the work done, a plumber replaced a portion of existing sewer line and did not change its path.
To be neighborly we have offered to fix the affected portion of wall, and replace the adjoining section of driveway. He has demanded we bring in structural and soils experts to give him certifications and assurances that his house, wall, and driveway have regained the stability he feels our plumbing excavation took away from him. We’re not sure what that means but he says it is our job to provide him with that.
