For 10 years at my last address, four previous tenants would receive ballots. I would return them with a stamp that read, "no longer at this address". I would not receive one for myself despite having registered directly with LAvote, online, and at the DMV.
Every time I went to the polling station, I would give my name and address and be told I was not on the list, but the previous tenants were. I would have to fill out a registration there in person to cast my vote.
Is this normal? I was born in Los Angeles as a citizen, do jury duty, not an ex-con.
The last few times my ballot was put in a pile and not in the box. When I asked why, I was told "we'll get to it.". It made me very wary and distrustful of election workers.
Thankfully I receive mail-in ballots at my new address and get notifications when it is counted.
